Recent Investigations Snapshot

Barringtons have been committed to providing investigative services to the Insurance Industry and Corporate Australia for over 20 years, whether they be investigations of a covert or overt nature - to determine the validity of claims and identify any fraud flags.

Barringtons recently undertook a covert investigation on behalf of a National Company that had terminated a number of staff for deception issues, one of these staff members instigating civil action against the business for Unfair Dismissal.

During the course of our investigation it was identified the plaintiff was actively employed by another company, a matter he failed to disclose during pre-hearing submissions and during court proceedings.  When evidence of his employment, obtained by Barringtons surveillance operatives was presented to the plaintiff during cross-examination, the presiding registrar advised of potential perjury direction and requested a determination be made in that regard.

The plaintiff subsequently advised the Court of his intention to withdraw his claim.

Barringtons are well known for providing successful outcomes for investigations of a similar nature and we provide ourselves on this success.

If you need to conduct an investigation please contact your local Barringtons Represenative or email us via: enquiries@barringtongroup.com.au

‘Set and Forget’ Club Compliance Management is HERE!!!

Wouldn’t it be great if you had a compliance system which gave you peace of mind that your Club would be protected from possible fines, penalties, litigation and loss through non-compliance?

Wouldn’t it be great if you knew exactly the who what and why of contractors walking around your Club? Wouldn’t it be great if you could confirm that all contractor ‘time in attendance’ claims were legitmate? Consider what 10 hours per month from three major fee-for-service contractors costs your Club…

The Ripple Effect and Bullying...

Dr Helena Cooper-Thomas, a senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Auckland had conducted a study of 1733 participants from 36 organisations across the health, education, hospitality and travel sectors in New Zealand and found that colleagues who witness bullying are also affected adversely. Her key findings reveal:

  • A clear link between people being exposed to bullying and poor perceptions of their work environment
