Recent Investigations Snapshot

Whilst it is impossible not to acknowledge the significant threat armed robbery currently poses to the club and hotel industry, it is essential that we do not forget the other ongoing security risks which exist.

Of particular note of recent is the risk of break, enter and steal, where offenders are targeting clubs and hotels and breaking into their gaming rooms, smashing machines and stealing note stackers. Given the compliance obligations for existing outdoor gaming areas it is difficult to ensure maximum security exists in these areas.

A fundamental error when assessing the risk posed by a break in is to calculate the loss of income only and not calculate the cost of the damage caused and the subsequent value of a poker machine.

For instance if a break in occurs and ten machines are broken into it is unlikely that the offenders are going to be delicate. This being the case it is fair to imply there could be significant chassis damage, broken locks, electronic damage and perhaps screen damage which could result in the total right off of a machine. The replacement cost could be in excess of 20K multiplied by ten machines which then has a consequential loss of 200K plus the cash proceeds from each machine.

On this basis we recommend that all hotels and clubs when assessing risk give due consideration to the risk of break, enter and steal and the subsequent consequences should it occur at your club or hotel. Should you require any assistance would like some advice, please do not hesitate

Five years later her parents have achieved some sort of enduring justice and hope that others with not have to suffer in the same ways that Brodie did.
Victorian MP, Bill Shorten had this to say about workplace bullying on 27 May in the Daily Telegraph:
“Beyond Bullying Association estimated a decade ago that between 400,000 and two million Australians were harassed at work, while between two-and-half and five million will experience workplace harassment at some time during their career.

...the economic costs of bullying are also very real. According to one comprehensive report

Quality Customer Service
Wins the Game!

Being on par in terms of price and quality only gets you into the game. Quality Customer Service wins the game. Australian businesses lose tens of millions of dollars annually in potential profits due to poor customer service skills at all levels. Unfortunately many employees either don't understand OR have never been taught the importance of professional customer service skills.

Barringtons teaches you how to provide that quality customer service by first defining and assessing customer service. They then show you

Emergency Plans, Crisis Plans and Business Continuity Plans.

What is the difference and why do we need one?

What is an Emergency?
An Emergency is an event or series of events that unfold so rapidly that there is no time to plan and there is a serious and immediate threat to life and property.
The purpose of an Emergency Plan is to enable management and staff to quickly and decisively respond to an actual or potential emergency, which could threaten the safety of persons or property on-site, or significantly disrupt site operations.

A good Emergency Plan includes
