Success Stories from Barringtons ClubsNSW Job Ready Program

Tim Lloyd - Trained: Blacktown Workers Club September 2016 - Working: Seven Hills RSL

When I found myself over 50 and redundant in the IT industry, I thought it was time for something new.  Hospitality continues to be a growth industry so I thought it was time to give it a try and when a former colleague recommended the Job Ready Course to me, it seemed like a great entry point.

The course gave me a great grounding in lots of aspects of this work – Food Safety, RSA and RCG, Personal Grooming, Industry Standards and what to expect when dealing with customers.  We got to speak with different recruiters, found out about the JobsInClubs recruitment site and were offered opportunities for short and long term employment.

I am currently working at the Seven Hills Group, which includes Seven Hills RSL, Fox Hills Golf Club, Blacktown City Bowling Club and Pennant Hills Bowling Club.  I have worked at two of these locations and my roles include bar service, housekeeping, gaming and Keno and I have recently started working on the door.  Besides my role at the club I was also able to sign up with National Workforce during the course and have worked at a number of events and stadiums across Sydney.

The Job Ready Program really works.  It helped me get a start in a new industry and I think it is a great place for anyone to enter the industry.

“We have found the Barringtons Job Ready Program a useful tool in our recruiting process, have had a number of staff gain part time and full time employment and always consider the applicants that the Job Ready team put forward.”     Corey Fletcher, Group Operations Manager, Seven Hills Group
