High Level Workplace Bullying

Yet another high level workplace bullying charge is playing out in the media. On Oct 13 the SMH reports “ the head of the Australian Film, TV and Radio School, Sandra Levy, has been accused of bullying, undermining and micromanaging staff by a former executive who is suing for more than $1 million.” Professor Katherine Blashki charges centre around these cited behaviours by Ms Levy:
  • forced to work outside normal hours
  • words to the effect of ''you are stupid'' and ''I don't know why I have you here'', to her at least once a day
  • leaked to the media the email advising of her resignation
  • wrongly sent her on ''gardening leave''
  • wiped her computer files
  • scheduled executive meetings at 9am and would often make decisions regarding her area of responsibility in the first half-hour knowing she could not get to work until 9:30am
  • she was denied time and resources for academic research,  not allowed to travel overseas for conference and had no control over her division's budget -  despite pre-hire promises
  • calling her a liar
  • denying she had requested or approved work
  • micromanaged her by standing in the car park and noting the time she left work
