Recent legislative change means that the club industry is required to obtain mandatory licensee training through Liquor & Gaming NSW approved courses. The Licensee and Advanced Licensee training courses are for licensees, approved managers and club secretaries, so you are better prepared for the challenges of operating a venue, while ensuring a vibrant and safe hospitality scene.

Advanced Licensee training is an additional course for those who may operate a business in a higher risk environment, such as venues authorised to trade after midnight.

Licensees and approved managers applying for a new liquor licence or transfer of an existing licence to another person or premise from 1 September 2018. Existing licensees and approved managers, from 1 April 2019, align to the renewal of your existing NSW competency card.

RCG Competency

An existing RSA Competency card is automatically renewed when completing Licensee Training. It does not automatically renew the RCG card. If you hold an RCG card you must renew your competency to continue working in gaming.

To retain your RCG card you must first complete the new L&GNSW online RCG Refresher .  This applies to individuals –

  1. required to complete LT on renewal of their Competency card, or
  2. completing LT for other reasons.

To gain access to the online RCG refresher to retain your RCG card,  You must request L&GNSW for access to the online RCG refresher by emailing: competency.card@liquorandgaming.nsw.gov.au

What does this mean for you?

Individuals choosing to retain their RCG endorsement when completing LT must present Barringtons with one of the following RCG refresher certificates completed in the last 90 days:

  • RCG Interim Certificate (full RCG)
  • RCG Refresher Interim Certificate (RCG renewal)
  • RCG Refresher Completion Certificate (completed prior to LT)

If you decide  to surrender their RCG card you must present a  completed Surrender RCG competency declaration form  when enrolling for LT.

INTERIM CERTIFICATE

Once you’ve successfully completed the Licensee course you will receive an interim certificate which is valid for 90 days and is valid for duties immediately.
