Barringtons’ Certificate II in Hospitality training course is designed to upskill individuals who work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. These are professionals or future employees that undertake mainly routine tasks under direct supervision.

 

The completion of this course provides participants with the relevant skill sets to take on jobs such as:

 

  • Bar attendant
  • Café attendant
  • Catering assistant
  • Food and beverage attendant
  • Front office assistant
  • Porter
  • Room attendant

 

The course itself is made up of 12 units - six of which are core units and six of which are elective. The mandatory modules are as follows:

 

  • BSBTWK201       Work effectively with others
  • SITHIND006       Source and use information on the hospitality industry
  • SITHIND007       Use hospitality skills effectively
  • SITXCCS011        Interact with customers
  • SITXCOM007     Show social and cultural sensitivity
  • SITXWHS005      Participate in safe work practices

 

The remaining elective units can be chose from a wide range of specialised course areas including accommodation services, housekeeping and porting, environmental sustainability, gaming and beyond. Electives may include:

  • SITHFAB021     Provide responsible service of alcohol
  • SITHFAB022     Clean and tidy bar areas
  • SITHFAB023     Operate a bar
  • SITHFAB027     Serve food and beverage
  • SITHGAM022   Provide responsible gambling services
  • SITXINV006      Receive, store and maintain stock

 

 

Delivery Modes

 

This course can be delivered in face to face sessions at a given time and venue and/or can be partially completed online.

What do you need to know?

 

There are no prerequisites for entry into this Barrington’s qualification course. The training runs for a duration of 12 months for participants that are already working full time. However, it can be completed at different durations based on personal obligations and pre-existing skill sets.

 

The training itself can be delivered in a combination of ways. Online options are available as well as in-person sessions. Having the option of blended delivery ensures the training works around your schedule.

 

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate II in Hospitality or a Statement of Attainment for competencies completed. This certification may gain recognition of your studies towards the Certificate III in Hospitality.
